Welcome to Wax Trax!

November 24, 2006

Do you ever wonder what happened to some of the great songs that were recorded back in the late 60’s/early 70’s? Only the popular, most well-known songs from this era are played anymore. But what about songs by Mashmakhan, Blue Cheer, Bubble Puppy, The Electric Prunes, or Frijid Pink? These are the true oldies but goodies, yet, few stations put these long lost classics on the air. Until now. Every Sunday night at 6:00 P.M. tune into HOT 99.7 FM WKSD (based out of Van Wert, OH) to listen to Wax Trax, a show hosted by me, Tripp Tozzer. I’ll bring those long lost favorite songs straight to your car or living room. Why? Because I can.

Please feel free to leave me any suggestions or comments you have. Thanks and enjoy Wax Trax!

I just visited the Ohio Power website and was very intrigued by their story! I especially enjoyed reading about the band’s history as well as their music journey. My favorite part though was when I read they had done a show with Frijid Pink.

The reason for my excitement is because the very first record store I went to with my dad, I picked up 2 albums..with no knowledge of who the bands were, I just liked the album covers. And Frijid Pink was one of them. I had that album cover hanging up in my room in college for about 2 years. It was the brightest pink you had ever seen lol My dad informed me that this band was from Detroit, and who knew some 5 odd years later he would be fortunate enough to have the opportunity to interview one of the greatest bands around who sang with them, known as the one and only-The Ohio Power!

I’m definitely looking forward to having the opportunity to see this great band perform this summer near my hometown and sharing this experience with my father. It truly will be a memorable night for everyone there! :)
